Nha Trang weather by month
Nha Trang splits its year in two. February to August is dry and settled; September to December belongs to the northeast monsoon. The dry half sees 15 to 70 mm of rain across 3 to 10 wet days. October and November bring 300 and 330 mm across 18 days each.
Nha Trang has the shortest rainy season in Vietnam, and that is what sets it apart from its neighbours: while Phu Quoc and Phuket sit under the southwest monsoon, it stays dry here. The mountain range to the west takes the moisture out, and summer stays clear.

When to visit Nha Trang
February through August. Two distinct periods sit inside that window, and the choice between them comes down to whether you want dry air or warm water.
February to April: the driest months
February brings 15 mm of rain across four wet days; March only 30 mm across three. Sunshine runs 8.5 hours a day and wind eases from 9.8 knots in February to 7 in April. Daytime temperature holds between 28 and 31 °C, milder than June.
May to August: the warmest water
More rain, from 35 mm in July to 70 mm in May, but showers here are short and usually come after midday: they move a trip to the morning rather than cancel it. In exchange the sea holds at 28.5 to 29 °C and wind drops to 6.3 knots.
Sea temperature in Nha Trang
The water never drops below 25.5 °C, even in January and February, so swimming works all year. The maximum is 29 °C from May to June and again in September.
For a long day in the water the difference shows: an hour at 25.5 °C in February starts to feel cold, an hour at 29 °C in May does not. If the trip is built around the sea rather than around sightseeing on land, April onward beats February and March.
The rainy season: September to December
This is a full monsoon, not the occasional shower. September brings 160 mm across 15 wet days, October 300 mm across 18, November 330 mm across 18, December 155 mm across 14. Sunshine falls to 4.5 hours a day in November and December.
Wind builds to 13 knots by December as the northeast monsoon arrives with swell. Typhoons are a separate consideration: the likely window runs from early September to 10 December, and more rarely from late April to late June.
When the sea is calm
April through September, with average wind at 5.6 to 7 knots and the year's minimum falling in September. That is the steadiest stretch for anyone who does not travel well in a swell.
The opposite pole is December and January at 13 and 11.8 knots. There is more wind on paper, but it is monsoon wind: it arrives with swell and rain, and for a leisure trip it works against you rather than for you.
